I grew up in the South, and like most places, Southern nature has a particular look and feel. Now that Tae and I have unpacked, we're starting to explore around Dallas. This weekend, we found an area that had actual ponds.

A murky pond with old trees surrounding it.
It's been a long time since I've seen a place like this.

Now, if you live in an area with ponds, this may seem like a relatively mundane photo, but coming from the Sonoran Desert, seeing so much water gathered there on the ground is a little shocking. It's not just the water either, but the trees as well. There are succulents everywhere around Tucson, and there are some trees—but not like this.

What's New?
